about center
Located in the heart of the Paravur backwaters in Venad and surrounded by coconut groves, Kalari Rasayana is a place with an ability to heal through its very tranquility and beauty. This is where you leave behind the chaos of everyday life and wake up to birdsong and peaceful backwater views. A day here is built around yoga at daybreak, meditation, satsangs, traditional classical dance and music, ancient Kalari practices, lakeside walks and healing massages with medicated oils, all in calm and serene surroundings. But beyond this natural serenity lies the true heart of the experience: Ayurveda, practiced as a complete healing system, combining personalized therapies, diet, yoga and lifestyle guidance.
For anyone seeking authentic Kerala Ayurveda away from the noise and crowds of a typical resort, Kalari Rasayana offers a genuinely immersive journey to healing through classical ayurvedic treatment.
About the Centre
Kalari Rasayana is an NABH-accredited ayurvedic clinic set in the backwaters of Venad kingdom, modern-day Kollam district over 8 acres of coconut grove land in Paravoor village, southern Kerala.
Part of the CGH Earth Group and sister property to Kalari Kovilakom, it carries forward the same legacy of authentic, traditional Ayurveda. However unlike its sister property’s palace setting, Kalari Rasayana is designed around the tranquillity of Kerala's backwaters. The resort overlooks the Paravur backwaters and features contemporary Kerala architecture that blends naturally into the landscape. Open corridors, verandas and shaded courtyards, expansive views of the lake, floating islets and coconut palms, all become part of the therapeutic experience at Kalari Rasayana.
With just 22 guest rooms and a clinic with 11 treatment rooms, the atmosphere here is quiet, clinical and nature-focused, with the emphasis entirely on therapeutic healing.
The property also maintains its own garden of ayurvedic herbs and vegetables, along with a walking trail through the grounds, offering a wellness consultation on arrival, 3 customised freshly cooked vegetarian meals daily, and amenities including Wi-Fi, sauna/steam, and jogging/walking paths.
Food
Meals at Kalari Rasayana are entirely sattvic, meaning purely vegetarian and prepared according to classical Ayurvedic diet principles to support guest’s healing process than just satisfy one’s appetite.
The resort’s Head chef is committed to preparing healing and nutritious meals using natural and organically grown ingredients, ensuring meals are high on both taste and medicinal value without compromising on quality or hygiene. Each meal is tailor-made under the direction of the Vaidyas to suit each guest's individual health condition and dosha and served in keeping with traditional rituals.
All guests receive 3 customized, freshly cooked meals a day, planned around their individual treatment needs.
Rooms
Kalari Rasayana keeps its accommodation deliberately simple and restful, keeping with the retreat's focus on disciplined healing rather than luxury for its own sake. There are two room categories, both capped at 2 guests:
Rasayana Suite
Well-furnished with good amenities, this is the retreat's standard suite and includes air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and an in-room locker.
Water Front Rasayana Suite
The more elevated option, set along the waterfront, with air conditioning, TV, in-room locker, and a double bed.
What’s Included in Your Ayurveda Stay
CGH Earth Ayurveda's treatments follow Shodana, the classical Ayurvedic eliminative process, offered across both its Kerala healthcare facilities, Kalari Kovilakom and Kalari Rasayana, both NABH-accredited. These treatments adhere strictly to the tenets of old-school Ayurveda, with each patient guided through the complete procedure and expected to follow it closely for the best results.
Treatments are prescribed by the Vaidyas to suit each guest's individual condition, and combined with yoga and meditation with a touch of cultural programs to enable a genuine transition to health and vitality. The range of treatments and therapies spans rejuvenation, weight loss, Ayurveda panchakarma, weight management, ailment management, yoga and meditation, wellness for the soul, general ayurvedic treatment, and healthy aging.
Only guests aged 14 and above are accepted for treatment.
Included: Wellness consultation on arrival, all Ayurvedic treatments and massages, ghee/oils/herbs used in treatment, accommodation, yoga and meditation, sattvic food, treatment clothing, and roundtrip airport transfers.
