HISTORY Of REIKI REIKI has been traced thousands of years back. Evidence of this form of healing has been found in Tibet, China, India, Egypt, Japan, and in Greek & Roman cultures. A Japanese healer named Dr. MikaoUsui Sensei, in the late nineteenth century, rediscovered REIKI. It is claimed that he found the formula for contacting a higher power that could bestow healing in an Indian Sutra. WHAT IS REIKI? The word REIKI comes from two Japanese words Rei & Ki, the Japanese Kanji ideograms have many levels of meanings. REIKI is “Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy” REI means Universal and an esoteric meaning is supernatural knowledge or spiritual consciousness. It is the wisdom that comes from God or the higher self. KI means CHI in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit, Ti or Ki in Hawaiian, It has also been called odic force, organ and bioplasma. Rei is the universal life force, the non-physical energy that animates all living things. HOW DOES REIKI HEAL? We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through pathways called Chakras, Meridian or Nadi. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the Aura. Lifeforce nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted/blocked, it causes diminished function in the organs and tissues of the physical body. THE HUMAN ENERGY SYSTEM The human body consists of a physical body as well as an energy body. The subtle body consists of Prana(energy), the aura, the chakras and the nadis. PRANA: Prana is the universal principle of energy. It is the life force. It is the life force in which all of life is based on. It is described as our inner power and strength, breath, respiration, our spiritual essence. It is a complex phenomenon with its nature being highly changeable and constantly moving. CHAKRAS: There are seven main chakras located along the spinal column, which are energy centers of the body. These chakras are like spirals of energy, each one relating to the others and they feed universal energy to all the body systems and functions. AURA: The Aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body and every organism and object in the universe. There are seven layers of human aura, which are corresponding with seven chakras. THE REIKI PRINCIPLE Just for today, I will let go of anger. Just for today, I will let go worry.
