The Sthoulya Hara Chikitsa is a healthy way of weight reduction keeping in mind one's health condition with appropriate purificatory procedures. In this treatment treatments like Udwarthanam (powder massage), kizhis (massage with medicated powder stuffed in a bag), dharas (pouring medicated decoctions) and purificatory treatments like purgation (virechana) and medicated enema (vasthy) are given after a thorough consultation to access the body constitution is done. Some internal herbal remedies are also administered along with the external treatments.
As diet is also an integral part of this treatment, patient will be on strict vegetarian diet which is prescribed by the doctor. The patient will also have a session of yoga every day.
