RU” is derived from the Sanskrit word, ‘Guru’ – meaning teacher, one who dispels the darkness of ignorance. “Gu” meaning darkness, “Ru” meaning Light. RU is the experiential wisdom transmitted from our Gurus.
The RU Yoga School, Yoga Teacher Training is an extremely intensive program designed to inspire the new generation of Yoga Gurus. RU Yoga School is accredited to the Yoga Alliance, but their way of teaching dates back to the roots of yoga.
‘Vinayam’ is a collective collaboration of yoga and aspects of Raja yoga meditation, taught at the center. ‘Vinayam’ is truly a humble approach to yoga. Yogis/people from all walks of life can experience the true sacredness of yoga through humble approach, integrating the universal source of breath, sound vibrations in the form of music, mindful and conscious intelligence into their practice which further reflects into every situation of their life.
Takes place over 23 Days.
Five full days, One half day and One day rest, each week.
The schedule tends to vary slightly in each training, according to the specific needs & pace of each individual group.
Weekdays
06:30 to 07:30: Meditation (silent meditation, guided meditation, pranayama meditation) followed by 20 minutes of Sva-sadhana.
7:30 to 8:00: Gyana Sara -This is a technique used at RU Yoga School, where you get one affirmation to follow all through the day, and bring it in your Dharana (Mind).
8:00 to 8:30: Breakfast with Sva Kula (Yoga Tribe) where you are provided with well-nourished healthy meals.
8:30 to 8:45 : Chanting. We all know, we are made of sound vibrations, any kind of chants open our throat chakra to help us bridge our hearts with our Ajna (Third-Eye Chakra) to reveal our inner knowledge.
9:00 to 11:30 : Yoga Abhyasa (Practice): Where we learn sequencing, methodology, how to dance with the inner rhythm using Asanas (Yoga Poses).
11:30 to 2:00 : Reflect on the practice and Q&A’s Hands on assist,Group discussion.
2:00 to 4:00 :Lunch & free time (take a dip in the sea or laze under a tree)
4:00-5:00 : Theory and group discussion class .
5:00 to 6:00 : Sandhya Vandhana usually on the beach, one with the waves we will go over tips and chanting Gayatri mantra and unwind our day’s learning with an Asana (Yoga Pose) practice and restorative stretching.
18:30 : Vegetarian Dinner
Saturday:
Same schedule till noon. Post lunch, just be a yogi and enjoy diving deeper in to your Sva Abhayasa.
Vinaya Saunders: When she is not rolling on the floor with her 3 kids, giggling and cuddling or cooking delicious Ayurvedic meals for her family. She is surely either teaching or practicing yoga.
She is the founder of Vinayam (a humble approach to yoga) a different style of yoga. Seven years ago, when she trained under Shiva Rea and Maria Garre, she came to realize a way to merge the Eastern and Western forms of teaching yoga. Her traditional training under Ms Manjula, her yoga school curriculum and Bhagavad Gita chanting there was a lot of aspects not explained. And the scary western way of practicing yoga forced her to emphasize on the humble aspects of yoga. From then on, there was no looking back. Her teaching attracts people of all ages and shapes; she is experienced in teaching competitive people at Geospatial Center, the US army base and working with seniors with injuries. She can say the deepest words with a sense of goofiness which can leave people thinking for days.
Her class is all about bringing life and its experience on to the mat, a blend of both spiritual and physical aspects of Yoga. Life is all about balance for her! RU Yoga School is an expansion of her sacred flame, a dedication to just being a simple human being.
Vinaya Saunders is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance, E-RYT) of 500 hours. She combines the teaching of traditional Hatha and Prana flow, blends Raja yoga meditation, Pranayama, Mantras and Ayurveda, leaving you with a sense of satisfaction and complete bliss. She is a regular contributor to Gaiam and an Expert for Curejoy. She resides in Leesburg, Virginia.
