Naturopathy

Naturopathy has a preventative approach to health care – it aims to balance of the body so that illness is less likely to occur in the future. A naturopath will want to know about a patient’s diet, lifestyle, family background and environment, as well as the history of their complaint or illness. This range of information is important to the practitioner, who seeks to discover the cause of illness and treat the whole person, rather than target the symptoms alone. The range of non-invasive techniques used in naturopathy includes:

  • Nutrition
  • Balance of Natural Elements in Body
  • Massage
  • Body Detoxification

Naturopathy evolved out of ancient healing traditions and is now recognised by mainstream medicine as a valuable and effective treatment for a variety of disorders. Many naturopathic beliefs - such as the importance of nutrition, exercise and stress management - have been adopted by conventional Western medicine.

Body Detox
The term detoxification is one that is commonly associated with alcohol, drug and substance abuse; as well as dieting and loss of weight: “diet detox.” However, beyond this popular belief, detoxification is also a process aiming to eliminate all the negative effects on our body from the environment, such as industrial chemicals, pesticides, additives in our foods, secondary smoke, pollutants, or heavy metals. Nowadays, internal detoxification is adopted by healthy individuals to keep their body systems in pristine condition.

Detoxification refers mainly to the removal of toxic substances and cleansing of the kidneys and colon, as these are organs involved in the detoxification of chemicals and toxins from the body.
